The Shrine to Peryite is located in the Reach, far to the northeast of Markarth. Prerequisite Return to the Shrine of Peryite and breathe the fumes to commune with the Daedric God. Where most Daedric Princes have a statue, Peryite has the tree, which is flanked by two large upright stones. Speak to Peryite's worshipper after the Vampire Ancient is dead and be told: "There you are, (player's guild title/name). Upon approaching the shrine a Khajiit named Kesh the Clean lists what materials are needed to speak to Peryite, starting the quest. Pray, worship at shrines and follow the tenets of your deity to strengthen your bond with the deity and eventually reward you with divine strength. Find Kesh at the Peryite Shrine The Dragonborn can then either kill the afflicted or allow them to continue on their way, the location of the Shrine to Peryite having been added to the map. Return to the Shrine to Peryite, inhale some more Incense Fumes, and Peryite will be quite pleased with how things went. How to fix (2013 update) I've tried the bugged saved game file I initially posted in my question with the current latest versions of the official patch, Unofficial Skyrim Patch (USKP) and Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE), and the saved game is now Aspect of Peryite-free. There is also a nearby chest which contains some leveled loot which always seems to include a copy of the Illusion skill book Incident at Necrom.

Peryite has told me that five of his followers, in an attempt to get closer to Him, have transported their souls to a plane of oblivion.
